Local Congregations

Over 30 different Columbus-area congregations have worked with CoCHY on activities like the Steering Committee, Parent Focus Groups, Pastor Focus Group, Teen Survey, and Service Learning Initiative. To learn more about each activity, click on the link.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is in charge of CoCHY. In addition to people from Ohio State and local agencies, the Steering Committee has representatives from the following congregations.

Individual churches and groups of congregations worked with Ohio State students to write grant proposals that funded faith-based health promotion activities for youth.

Pastor Focus Groups At the Columbus Health Department, we held three group discussions with pastors and lay leaders from 16 congregations. Teen Survey

At 20 congregations, we are surveying teenagers and following them for two years. The survey asks questions about religion and spirituality, family and friends, as well as risky behaviors like sex, drugs and violence.
