CHAIR, DIVISION OF BIOSTATISTICS
The Ohio State University College of Public Health
The Ohio State University College of Public Health is seeking an innovative leader and scholar to chair its Division of Biostatistics. The successful candidate will provide senior leadership and vision in the development and application of biostatistical methods within the College of Public Health and other health sciences colleges at OSU. This position is available immediately and requires academic credentials consistent with appointment as a professor with tenure in the College of Public Health. The candidate is expected to have an active research program, lead others in their research efforts, mentor junior faculty, and collaborate in research initiatives with other investigators both within and outside the College of Public Health. Candidates should have a PhD in biostatistics, statistics, or equivalent; have a demonstrated record of administrative experience; and have a strong and distinguished record of teaching, mentoring, and scholarly research.
The College and the University
The School of Public Health was established in 1995 as part of the College of Medicine. The school separated from the College of Medicine in 2004. Over the last three years, the School of Public Health significantly increased the size of its faculty and tripled its research funding. This year, The Ohio State University Board of Trustees elevated the School to the College of Public Health, the first new college at Ohio State in 23 years. The College is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.
Ohio State's College of Public Health has been the first and only accredited school of public health in the state of Ohio. It currently offers master's degrees in professional practice as well as research and doctoral degrees. The specializations within the college include biostatistics, epidemiology, health behavior and health promotion, environmental health sciences, health services management and policy, veterinary public health, and an emerging emphasis on clinical investigations. The College also offers an undergraduate minor and is developing an undergraduate major. The College provides extensive service to the community through its Office of Workforce Development that includes the Ohio Center for Public Health Preparedness and the collaborative Pennsylvania-Ohio Public Health Training Center.
